In 1983, 24-year-old Patricia Clarke knew she was expecting a big baby. She already had one child and knew large babies ran in her family. However, she couldn’t have imagined just how enormous her new baby would be.
An Unbelievable Birth
Patricia gave birth to Kevin Robert Clark, who weighed a staggering 16 pounds. Not only was Kevin the biggest baby ever born at Community Memorial Hospital, but he might have been the largest baby in New Jersey’s history.
He was too big for a standard crib, and baby clothes were too small for him. Despite his size, Kevin was perfectly healthy, much to his parents’ relief.
Making Headlines
Kevin’s extraordinary size quickly caught public attention. He made headlines across the country, inspiring a segment on “Saturday Night Live” and earning a mention on “Good Morning America.”
Growing Up in the Spotlight
Kevin continued to amaze as he grew. By age 12, he was already 5 foot 7. By junior high, he reached 6 foot 5, and he kept growing from there.
“There isn’t a day that goes by when someone doesn’t ask me how tall I am,” Kevin told the New York Post. “I like to joke that I’m 5-foot-21. When people ask if I play basketball, I ask them if they play miniature golf.”
Life Today
Now 35 years old, Kevin is a former military man. He lives with his 6-foot-tall wife and their Great Dane. Standing at 6 feet 9 inches, Kevin has embraced his height and takes it all in stride.
A Bright Future
Kevin’s journey hasn’t been easy, growing up with constant attention and questions. But he handles it all with grace.
