16-Year-Old Dog Abandoned at Shelter with Heartbreaking Note

Share this:

Princess is a 16-year-old dog.

For reasons unknown, one day her owners leave her in the parking lot of the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria in Virginia.

She is sitting in a small carrier, surrounded by some bags filled with items that presumably belong to her. In one of these bags, a terrible note is found.

Unbelievable Heartlessness

This note is so unbelievably heartless that it’s hard to believe. The former owners request that Princess be euthanized.

All of her belongings should be given away to other dogs. It’s difficult to imagine what must have been going through these people’s minds.

Leaving a four-legged family member in the parking lot of an animal shelter is bad enough.

But the request to have Princess killed is simply cruel.

At the same time, there seems to be an underlying sense of helplessness in this plea from the previous owners, though it can’t excuse their actions.

Moving to Miri’s

Fortunately, there is no one willing to fulfill the former owners’ wish.

However, the Animal Welfare League’s facilities cannot accommodate Princess either.

Due to her age and advanced kidney disease, she requires medical care that the shelter cannot provide.

Therefore, Princess relocates to Miri’s Haven Senior Dog Rescue, a place better suited to the needs of older dogs.

After settling in at Miri’s, Princess truly starts to thrive. There is still much life left in her that she wants to enjoy.

Despite her kidney issues, she is pain-free and receives all the affection she desires and needs.

A Golden Senior Life

Princess will soon go to foster parents who will remain by her side until the end of her life, caring for her.

The amount of time the senior has left in this world is uncertain, but one thing is certain: Every day is worth living.

When she eventually crosses the rainbow bridge, it will happen surrounded by love. Every dog and every person deserves such a farewell.
