What dogs are capable of never ceases to amaze us humans. One breed that particularly impresses us is the Labrador.
They are intelligent, athletic, and social, making them excellent rescue dogs. The extent of this is demonstrated in this story by a black Labrador named Robbie.
Robbie’s friends are in trouble
Robbie loves being out in nature. He grew up amid forests by a river and still lives there.
Robbie has a few dog buddies with whom he enjoys roaming through nature. But today, two of Robbie’s friends did something rather foolish.
They climbed into a canoe that was on the shore, and due to the strong wind, they drifted out onto the river.
For some reason, the two dogs are hesitant to simply jump into the water and swim back to shore.
Now, they are sitting there, helpless, howling, and looking pleadingly towards the shore. They could really use their friend Robbie now. Where is he?
Help arrives with flapping ears
Robbie was already aware that his friends were in trouble. As fast as he could, he came running.
He didn’t stop at the shore to assess the situation; instead, he ran straight into the water and started swimming.
In no time, the athletic water-loving Robbie reached the canoe with his two friends. But how would he pull the canoe?
Luckily, his friends were smart too. Once Robbie arrived in front of the canoe, one of the dogs on the canoe grabbed the rope that was usually used to tie the boat. He then threw it into the water, where Robbie skillfully caught it with his teeth. Without hesitation, he swam towards the shore, pulling the canoe behind him.
The rescue was successful
All three dogs arrive safely on land and are met by their owner, who praises not only Robbie, but all three of them.
The whole thing was just an exercise, which also explains why the two dogs didn’t swim to shore.
Robbie, the rescuer, and Rusty, who threw the rope, worked well as a team and Robbie in particular proved what he is capable of.
All three dogs enjoy this type of play, even though you wouldn’t think so from the howling of the two “helpless” dogs.
