Little Buddy didn’t differ much from other strays when he was picked up by the Midwest Animal ResQ in Raytown, Missouri.
Though he was covered in dirt, he was otherwise healthy and lively, according to Erin Morse, the director of Midwest Animal ResQ.
Initially, at the shelter, he was a bit scared and shy. But soon enough, he melted the hearts of his caregivers.
What no one knew was that the little rascal had a big secret.
Little guy with a big secret
Because he had been dearly missed for six years.
Despite his long absence from home, the cute dog had no fear of the caregivers and quickly built emotional bonds with them.
Whenever someone walked past his cage, he would whine like crazy and desperately wanted to be let out.
Microchip reveals the big secret
The staff at Midwest Animal ResQ discovered that Little Buddy had a microchip. They began sending chip alerts to the contact information, initially without success.
His dad thought the notifications were a bad joke. Too much time had passed since Little Buddy’s disappearance. When he received a call from the shelter, he was overjoyed.
“We couldn’t believe it when we learned that Little Buddy had been missing for nearly six years – and that we had found him so far from his home,”
Morse recounts.
A Rescued Dog Gets Rescued Again
Little Buddy was adopted by his dad in 2017 and lived with him in Springfield, Missouri, until the day he disappeared.
According to the local news station KMBC, his dad distributed flyers all over the neighborhood but without success. No one responded due to the information on the microchip.
When ResQ contacted him, Little Buddy’s dad immediately got in the car and drove the four hours to the shelter.
There, he saw his four-legged friend again after 6 years, and the joy of their reunion was immense on both sides!
Little Buddy immediately ran to his dad and couldn’t stop wagging his tail. There wasn’t a dry eye left during this reunion.
True love endures time
