A heartwarming photo of an elderly Chinese couple has captured the hearts of millions around the world. This couple had been married for nearly 70 years, and their story is both heartbreaking and beautiful.

The photo was taken by Wang Yanfang, the head nurse at Yinzhou Hospital’s intensive care unit in Zhejiang Province, eastern China. Wang shared the photo to highlight the love and bond between the couple, which has resonated with people everywhere.

The 92-year-old husband, Feng Ming, was admitted to the hospital after suffering from heart failure. Unfortunately, his health took a turn for the worse. His condition deteriorated, leading to multiple organ failures and a serious lung infection. Feng found himself unable to speak and was reliant on a life support machine to stay alive.

As his family faced the difficult reality of his situation, they made the heartbreaking decision to stop his treatment and bring him home. But before leaving the hospital, Feng had one last wish: he wanted to see his beloved wife, Zhang Ping, who is 95 years old.

Zhang had also been admitted to the same hospital, but she was on a different floor receiving treatment for a fractured femur.

Wang, the head nurse, recognized the urgency of the situation. She said, “The visiting hour of the ICU is from 3:00 pm to 3:30 pm, but Feng’s condition is too severe to wait till then.” Understanding how important this meeting was for the couple, she made special arrangements for them to see each other one last time.

With Wang’s help, Zhang was carefully transferred on a stretcher from the 14th floor to the ICU on the third floor, where Feng lay. When they finally saw each other, it was a moment filled with emotion.

Wang recounted the touching scene, saying, “Feng’s wife grabbed her husband’s hand and spoke to him in their local dialect, saying: ‘Don’t worry about me. Rest assured that I can take good care of myself.’”
