Jason Momoa has set the internet on fire after introducing his new girlfriend on Instagram this Monday. Fans can’t stop talking about the couple, and for good reason!
While the news may have come as a surprise to some, it turns out Momoa has been dropping hints about their romance for quite some time. If you’ve been paying attention, you might have noticed the subtle clues he’s been sharing with his followers.
Momoa, now 44, first met his 32-year-old girlfriend while filming the 2021 Netflix movie Sweet Girl. At that time, he was still married to Lisa Bonet. But here’s the twist—Momoa and Bonet had been separated for over five years, even though they were still legally married.
Their official separation happened on October 7, 2020, so by the time Momoa and Arjona began dating, there was no conflict between them. Earlier this year, on January 8, Bonet filed for divorce, and everything was settled peacefully the very next day.
Now that the dust has settled, Momoa couldn’t wait to show the world how much he adores Arjona. He posted a carousel of pictures from their recent trip to Japan, filled with heartwarming moments. In his caption, he affectionately called Arjona “mi amor,” which means “my love” in Spanish. And if that wasn’t clear enough, their sweet photos together certainly do the talking.
One picture, in particular, caught everyone’s attention. In it, Arjona has her hand gently resting on Momoa’s arm, while he wraps his arms around her, holding her close. Their body language speaks volumes—this is a couple deeply in love.
Momoa also shared his excitement about the trip, writing, “Japan, you are a dream come true; you blew my mind.” He added, “We are so grateful to everyone who welcomed us into their homes, allowing us to embark on another incredible adventure with our beloved, and to make memories with both old and new friends. Motorbikes and mayhem on the highway. Warm regards, J.”
Arjona’s past is a bit of a mystery. In 2019, she married attorney Edgardo Canales, but little is known about their separation or whether they’ve divorced.
Even though it might seem like Arjona is a new face in Momoa’s life, she’s already a part of the family circle. Momoa’s stepdaughter, Zoë Kravitz, even chose Arjona to direct her new movie, Blink Twice, which hits theaters on August 23 and stars Channing Tatum.
With Kravitz and Tatum now engaged, it’s likely that their wedding will be a grand affair. And you can bet that Momoa, Bonet, and Lenny Kravitz will all be in attendance.
Momoa and Bonet had a long history together, dating for 13 years before finally tying the knot in October 2017. They have two children—a 16-year-old daughter named Lola and a 15-year-old son named Nakoa-Wolf—whom they continue to raise together, away from the public eye.
The couple didn’t announce their separation until January 2022, posting a joint statement on Instagram that read, “We’ve all felt the strain and adjustments of these revolutionary times. A revolution is taking place, and our family is not an exception… feeling and growing from the seismic shifts occurring.”
They added, “As a result, we inform our families of our impending divorce. We share this not because we think it’s important to draw attention to ourselves, but rather so that we can live morally and authentically in our day-to-day lives.”
