Since Jason Momoa introduced his new girlfriend to the world on Instagram this Monday, the internet can’t stop buzzing about the new couple!
While some might find this news surprising, Jason has been dropping hints about their long-brewing romance for a while now. He’s been giving subtle clues to his fans for some time!
The love story began back in 2021, on the set of the Netflix movie Sweet Girl. At the time, Jason, who is now 44, was still married to Lisa Bonet. Meanwhile, the woman who would later become his girlfriend, a 32-year-old actress, was also a part of the film. But there’s a twist!
You see, although Momoa and Bonet were still legally married, they had been separated for over five years. They formally separated on October 7, 2020, so when Momoa started dating Arjona, there was no drama or conflict between them.
Fast forward to January 8 of this year—Bonet officially filed for divorce, and the very next day, the divorce was finalized with no hard feelings.
Now that everything is out in the open, Momoa wasted no time in sharing his love with the world! He posted a series of photos from their recent trip to Japan, expressing his affection openly. In the caption, he referred to Arjona as “mi amor”—Spanish for “my love.” And if there were any doubts about how he feels, their adorable pictures together should clear things up!
One photo especially caught everyone’s attention. In it, their bodies are close, her hand resting gently on his arm while his arms wrap around her. Their connection is clear and undeniable!
Momoa also shared a heartfelt message: “Japan, you are a dream come true; you blew my mind. We sincerely thank everyone who welcomed us with open arms and allowed us to create more beautiful memories with old and new friends. Motorbikes and mayhem on the highway. Warm regards, J.”
But wait—there’s more to Arjona’s story. Back in 2019, she married attorney Edgardo Canales. However, little is known about when or how their relationship ended, or if a divorce was filed.
Even though Arjona seems to be a new addition to the Momoa family, she already has a strong connection with his stepdaughter, Zoë Kravitz. In fact, Zoë chose Arjona to direct Blink Twice, a movie starring Channing Tatum that is set to hit theaters on August 23. And with Zoë and Channing now engaged, their wedding promises to be a grand affair, likely attended by Momoa, Bonet, and Zoë’s father, Lenny Kravitz.
As for Momoa and Bonet, their story goes back 13 years of dating before they finally tied the knot in October 2017. They have two children together, a 15-year-old son named Nakoa-Wolf and a 16-year-old daughter named Lola, whom they continue to raise away from the public eye.
It wasn’t until January 2022 that they publicly announced their separation on Instagram. In a heartfelt joint statement, they shared: “We’ve all felt the strain and adjustments of these revolutionary times. A revolution is taking place, and our family is not an exception… feeling and growing from the seismic shifts occurring.
As a result, we inform our families of our impending divorce. We share this not because we think it’s important to draw attention to ourselves, but rather so that we can live morally and authentically in our day-to-day lives.”
Now, with new chapters ahead, it seems everyone in this story is ready to embrace fresh beginnings!
