Zoey is just one of the many dogs that the GOODS Program has supported through Helping Paws Animal Rescue. Her story is heart-wrenching as she became a victim of a tornado. Originally part of a family in a small town, Zoey’s life took a drastic turn when a tornado struck on April 19th, 2023.
The destructive tornado leveled her family’s home, forcing them to relocate. Tragically, Zoey was left behind amidst the chaos. For about a week, she roamed the streets, desperately scavenging for food. Fortunately, a compassionate lady found the frightened pup and brought her to the rescue.
Despite attempts to reconnect Zoey with her family, they were unable to take her back. Instead, they requested Helping Paws Animal Rescue to care for her and facilitate her adoption into a new loving home.
When Zoey arrived at the rescue, she was underweight and covered in wounds, although thankfully none were too severe. The entire ordeal must have been terrifying and disorienting for her, prompting the rescue to prioritize her happiness and comfort.
Zoey’s Fortunate Turnaround
Zoey’s life took a positive turn with the assistance of food donations from Greater Good Charities. Since her arrival at the rescue, she has gained weight, her wounds have healed, and her fur has regrown in the areas where she was injured. Zoey is now a joyful and healthy girl, ready to embark on the journey of finding a forever home.
