You’re getting a dog soon or want to check if you’ve already made all the necessary preparations for your new furry friend? Our complete list of dog supplies provides an overview of what you need or might need for a dog in your household.

First things first: Depending on the breed, size, and personality of your dog, you’ll need various dog supplies. This list is a summary to give you a solid foundation for your shopping list! When it comes to different food and training options, you know best what suits your dog.

Now, let’s get down to business: What dog supplies do you need?

  • Dry Food: There’s a variety of dry food for puppies, young, adult, and senior dogs, as well as options like organic, diet, or allergy-friendly.
  • Wet Food: Pay attention to the age and specific dietary needs of your dog when choosing wet food. Grain-free dog food is also available.
  • Snacks: For reward, dental care, and small treats, you can find dog biscuits, treats, and natural chews.
  • Food Bowl: A sufficiently large food bowl made of stainless steel, ceramic, or plastic is essential. A food dispenser might also be useful!
  • Water Bowl: A water bowl or drinking fountain is a must-have in your household with a dog.
  • Bowl Mat: A washable mat for your dog’s bowls saves you from cleaning the floor multiple times a day.
  • Travel Bowl: A portable (e.g., collapsible) bowl or a coated bag for dog food makes feeding on the go easier.
  • Coat Care: Depending on the breed, you might need brushes, combs, scissors, slickers, shampoos, oils, insect sprays, and other products for coat care.
  • Claw and Paw Care: Special clippers, scissors, grinders, oils, creams, and sprays are available for the care of dog claws and paws.
  • Care for Teeth, Eyes, and Ears: Yes, you should regularly clean your dog’s eyes, ears, and teeth with brushes, sponges, pads, and care products.
  • Waste Bags: As a dog owner, you’ll definitely need poop bags!

If your dog ever gets a bit smelly, there are specific sprays for quick odor removal in the car, at home, and on the dog itself.

A specific emergency kit for dogs includes items like wound compresses, bandages, adhesive tape, tweezers, a muzzle, tick tweezers, and more.

  • Harness: The dog harness is used for training, walking, or even buckling up in the car (see below).
  • Collar: The leash and possibly dog tags and pendants are attached to the dog collar. It’s best to buy one with built-in reflectors!
  • Leash: Dog leashes are available as long lines, retractable leashes, coupled for two dogs, or with a waist belt for the owner.
  • Muzzle: A muzzle is mandatory in some places and comes as a basket or loop.

The pendant for the dog collar can be engraved with the dog’s name and your phone number. Address, light, and safety tags are also available.

  • Dog Bed: A nice soft dog bed, a large flat cushion, a dog basket, or a mat replace your pet’s outdoor sleeping spot.
  • Dog Blanket: A dog blanket allows your dog to lie on the couch, bed, or car seat.

For dog toys, offer your four-legged friend a selection of intelligence, chewing, and fetching toys. There are also special toys for puppies and water play.

  • Transport Box: Depending on your dog’s size, you need a transport bag, box, or crate. Bicycle baskets, backpacks, and trolleys are also available for this purpose.
  • Car Blanket: For the trunk and backseat, there are blankets that you can attach to the headrests to protect the entire area from pet hair and prevent your dog from falling into the footwell.
  • Separation Grid: With a grid or net, you prevent your dog from moving from the trunk to the back seat or from the rear seat to the cockpit.
  • Safety Belt: With a safety harness and the corresponding adapter belt for the car, you can even buckle up your dog during the ride.
  • Dog Ramp: For easier access to the trunk, especially in high cars, dog stairs and collapsible dog ramps are offered.
  • Housebreaking Products: If you bring a puppy home, a puppy toilet or pad helps prevent small accidents. You can also use a special essential oil to mark the spot gradually moving it out of the apartment.
  • Training Accessories: Clickers, whistles, training lures, and treat bags assist you in training your dog.
  • Agility Equipment: If you want to practice the tricks from dog school in the garden, there are tunnels, rings, hurdles, poles, and other accessories for agility training at the pet store.
  • Repellents: To keep your dog away from furniture and other objects, products like Trixie’s chew stop, anti-feces agents, repellent gel, and a deterrent spray are available.
  • Dog House: With a small dog house, your furry friend has its own realm and a retreat in the garden. Also available with thermal insulation!
  • Playpen: Especially for puppies, a so-called playpen – a kind of portable fence for safe play outdoors.
  • Dog Coat: Special dog sweaters, coats, and raincoats are available for chilly dogs.
  • Dog Shoes: For salt-spread in winter, protective dog shoes for sensitive paws are recommended.
  • Safety Vest: Reflective safety vests and life jackets for dogs are also available.

Advent Calendar: There are also advent calendars for dogs! 24 small snacks or toys shorten your pet’s wait for Christmas Eve – where there will hopefully be a big gift. 😉
