The sound tells the story: When Javier Rosemberg and his two children take an evening walk and hear a dog barking, they know right away that the situation is serious.
The desperate and piercing barking sends shivers down their spines, and they decide to investigate. What follows is an impressive rescue operation.
The barking dog is drawing attention to his friend
“The little black-and-white dog has asked passersby for help,”
Javier is certain.
The faithful four-legged friend’s frantic state becomes evident to Javier and his children. In a storm drain beneath the sidewalk, another dog is trapped.
Without his friend’s barking, pedestrians would likely not have noticed the utterly desperate animal.
“It was the loyalty of the dog that impressed us the most about the scene. Only thanks to his barking was the trapped dog discovered,”
the father remembers.
Firefighters are called for the rescue
Because they can’t free the dog themselves, they call the firefighters. Equally important is the task that Javier’s son, Teo, takes on.
Teo lovingly cares for the friend of the trapped dog, petting him and comforting him while the firefighters extricate the other animal from its dire predicament.
When the larger of the two dogs is finally free, all involved witness a truly moving reunion between the two friends.
“It was a happy ending. Seeing both of them running and leaping together was very exciting,”
Javier recounts.
For him and the others, it appears as if the two are celebrating the moment together.
The rescue operation deeply affects Javier
Javier is moved that a small dog can inspire so many people to come together and help. He is also very proud of his son, Teo.
“We are very proud of Teo and also of our daughter. They have always been and continue to be strong animal lovers and protectors,”
he says of his two children.
Thanks to their exemplary response, the two dogs can once again roam the area together and embark on adventures.
Their origin is unknown, but it’s clear that they belong together and are the best of friends. Let’s hope they have a home together.
