At some point, every baby needs to transition from comfortably nursing on a bottle to learning how to eat with a spoon.
In this video, the parents have come up with a special trick to make this transition a bit easier for their baby.
Observing and Imitating
Babies typically start eating their first puree around four to six months old when they can hold their head up and sit upright.
This is also the age when babies begin to observe and imitate behaviors.
The parents in the video take advantage of this by using the family dogs as role models. However, they don’t want to be the models themselves; instead, they call the dogs to join.
Distracted and Entertained at the Same Time
With one dog on the right, another on the left, and the baby in the middle, the spoon moves back and forth.
No, it’s not the same spoon! The baby and the dogs each have their own bowl of puree and their own spoon.
The baby attentively watches as the dogs quickly take the puree from the spoon and promptly imitates them.
The process unfolds without any excitement. The baby doesn’t even notice how the puree disappears into his mouth.
That’s the real purpose of the exercise. The baby should be distracted and entertained simultaneously. And who could fulfill this task better than the dogs?
Different Views Allowed
An excellent idea, at least if you’re a dog owner who tolerates having dogs at the table. This is a matter of personal preference, and opinions vary.
Some have no issue with it, while others strictly oppose it. It’s pretty much the same issue as with allowing dogs on the bed.
Commenters, however, are more concerned that with the constant swapping of spoons and bowls, the wrong spoon might accidentally end up in the baby’s mouth.
All Under Control
But that doesn’t happen. The parents have everything under control – the dogs get their puree from one bowl, and the baby reliably gets his from another.
Moreover, the dogs in this video give the baby an incredibly entertaining lesson in how to eat puree from a spoon.
