Bruce Willis and Emma Heming have been married for over a decade. Despite Bruce’s recent diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia, Emma is staying true to her vow to support him in sickness and in health.
Even though Bruce’s condition is tough, Emma can’t help but think back on the good times when Bruce was healthier.
After learning about Bruce’s dementia, Emma has been working hard to make sure he gets the best care possible. She is teaming up with dementia experts to support her husband.
Recently, she shared a photo on Instagram with Teepa Snow, an expert who helps families manage dementia. Emma mentioned that Teepa is teaching her new skills to add to her “dementia care toolbox.”
Bruce and Demi Moore were married for 11 years, a story many don’t know much about. Despite his serious condition, Bruce bravely appeared in the “Detective Knight” teaser, showing his resilience.
Bruce’s daughter also shared a touching message about her father’s health struggles.
Emma is clearly dedicated to caring for Bruce. This week, she discovered Instagram’s new memory feature, which shows past posts. She was reminded of a video she had posted a year earlier, where Bruce praised her skincare line, Cocobaba.
She reposted it with a new caption: “What’s this new Memory thingy on IG!? Omg, my biggest fan. I’m in love with him.”
The video showed Bruce’s enthusiasm for Emma’s skincare line, a time when he was doing better than he is now.
Recently, photos of Bruce surfaced showing him out in Los Angeles, drinking coffee. He has kept a low profile since his initial aphasia diagnosis, making these sightings rare.
Bruce’s family has been very open about his health. They previously shared an update on Instagram. “Our family wanted to start by expressing our deepest gratitude for the incredible outpouring of love, support and wonderful stories we have all received since sharing Bruce’s original diagnosis,” wrote his daughter Rumer Willis.
She continued, “In the spirit of that, we wanted to give you an update about our beloved husband, father, and friend since we now have a deeper understanding of what he is experiencing.
“Since we announced Bruce’s diagnosis of aphasia in spring 2022, Bruce’s condition has progressed, and we now have a more specific diagnosis: frontotemporal dementia (known as FTD).”
Rumer added that despite the hardship, they are grateful to finally have a clear diagnosis.
Bruce has struggled with his cognitive abilities, and directors who worked with him tried to make things as easy as possible. On the set of his last film, White Elephant, crew members would feed him lines, and sometimes he wouldn’t understand them, simply repeating what he was told.
A crew member commented, “It was less of an annoyance and more like: ‘How do we not make Bruce look bad?’ Someone would give him a line and he didn’t understand what it meant. He was just being puppeted.”
We send our best wishes to the Willis family during this challenging time. Please join us in keeping them in your thoughts and prayers.
