From the moment 13-year-old Courtney Hadwin stepped onto the stage of “America’s Got Talent” in 2019, the judges weren’t sure what to expect. Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Mel B, and Heidi Klum watched as Courtney stood nervously in front of them. Mel B smiled and tried to comfort her by saying, “Don’t be nervous. You’re here for a reason, so go for it and good luck.”
But as soon as Courtney started singing Otis Redding’s “Too Hot To Handle,” everything changed. The shy, quiet girl turned into a confident superstar with an incredible voice. The audience and judges couldn’t believe what they were hearing. Her powerful voice and amazing stage presence made everyone sit up and take notice.
The most exciting moment of Courtney’s audition happened when Howie Mandel, clearly blown away by her performance, slammed the golden buzzer. Golden confetti rained down, and Courtney was sent straight to the quarter-finals. Howie looked amazed and told her, “Oh my gosh, you’re not from this era; you’re from a whole different era.” Simon Cowell added with a big smile, “You were this shy little thing when you came out, and then you sing and you’re like a lion!”
Even though Courtney didn’t win the grand prize, she made it to the top ten, impressing everyone with each performance. One of her most unforgettable moments was when she sang Tina Turner’s “Nutbush City Limits” in the finals. The crowd cheered loudly, and Howie couldn’t hold back his excitement. He told her, “You are on fire, you’re amazing, you’re a superstar!”
Although she didn’t take home the trophy, Courtney’s time on “America’s Got Talent” was just the beginning of something big. Since then, she has released five original songs and is preparing for her debut album and a tour across America. Her musical journey is just getting started, and fans can’t wait to see what she does next.
