When a pet is abandoned, it’s always the wrong decision, and this is especially true for little Ariel.

This sweet dog has some physical peculiarities, including six legs, making her particularly reliant on human care.

However, her owner simply discarded her and left her alone in a parking lot in Wales.

Quickly found

The little dog is fortunate in her misfortune because she is quickly discovered. Her condition is good, leading veterinarians to believe she spent only a short time in the parking lot.

After a visit to the vet, the pup is taken to the Greenacres Rescue animal shelter.

In shock

Even though she has been well taken care of given the circumstances, the dog is naturally in shock.

Mikey Lawlor, the founder and director of Greenacres Rescue, recalls:

“When she came to us, she was timid and frightened. She spent the first night with me, and after everything she had been through, she was almost completely closed off.”

Ariel

At Greenacres, the pup is given the name Ariel. The idea came to the animal rescuers because of her two additional legs.

These legs are fused together and resemble the fish tail of Ariel, the mermaid from the Disney movie of the same name.

Ariel displays several other unusual physical characteristics. Her pelvis is not properly shaped due to the two additional legs.

Additionally, she has the beginnings of a second vulva. The good news is that all her internal organs are in their correct places and function perfectly.

Surgery planned

According to veterinarians, Ariel’s physical peculiarities can be surgically addressed.

More than £1,600 or nearly $2.000 has already been raised in donations for the surgery. However, the operation is not without risks.

There is a possibility that Ariel may lose one of her normal legs. Now, it’s a matter of crossing fingers and hoping that she gets to keep all her healthy legs.

Over 200 people have already applied for adoption.
