Dog Paralyzed by Car Accident: His Fight to Walk Again Leaves Everyone in Awe

When a dog wags its tail, there’s no doubt: the world is a better place!

Unfortunately, the opposite is equally true…

Ward is found trapped under a car, paralyzed from the waist down. Whoever did this to him simply left him to fend for himself.

Luckily, he makes it to the “McKamey Animal Center” in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where the staff is doing everything they can for his recovery.

Everyone Adores Ward

When Ward arrives at the shelter, he can’t walk, relieve himself, or express his joy in the typical canine way without assistance.

But he’s a true fighter and refuses to show weakness.

“His affectionate nature and the sweet kisses he bestows on our staff clearly demonstrate what a lovable dog he is,”

the shelter writes on Facebook, adding:

“Ward has made incredible progress in his short time here. While we are still not sure of his final diagnosis, we are sure that he is a resilient fighter.”

No Effort Spared

The next step in his rehabilitation is a doggy wheelchair. The care team noticed that Ward’s hind legs seem to have a life of their own and are determined to walk again despite his paralysis.

The staff is hopeful about the wheelchair and physical therapy treatment.

And they succeed! Ward indeed grows stronger, becoming a symbol of resilience for the shelter.

Inspired by his progress, a local animal clinic donates hydrotherapy sessions, allowing the determined patient to move on an underwater treadmill.

A Dream Comes True

Then one day, the dream comes true: Ward can move his legs again!

And just six months after arriving at the “McKamey Animal Center,” the second milestone follows: Ward finds his forever home!

Kellyn and Matt Murphy instantly fall in love with the sweet boy.

“From the very first moment, I had the goal in mind that he would walk and stand properly again,”

says Kellyn, who usually assists people with the same problems.

The couple continues Ward’s therapy in his new home, achieving the ultimate success after two weeks:

Ward wags his tail for the first time!
