Two people want to exchange their vows, but their dearest family member must not be left out and should play a very special role.
However, on that day, when the adorable four-legged family member finally sees his two-legged parents, there’s no holding back, and he rushes towards them. While he may not have fulfilled his role in the wedding as planned, he has captured all the hearts.
A dog and an important job
The protagonist of this story is Colonel, a Labrador Retriever, who not only has a decorative role at the celebration but also serves as the official ring bearer.
Kate Gueno and her future husband hired a dog trainer specifically to train Colonel, so he could elegantly walk down the aisle, carrying the wedding rings.
Danielle Marcheso, the dog trainer, early on notices that the couple’s expectations might differ a bit from reality.
The wedding ceremony
On the day of the wedding, everything goes differently than planned. When the excited dog sees his family, there’s no holding back.
Full of excitement, Colonel rushes down the aisle, jumps up at the groom, knocking over the microphone in the process.
Kate and her newlywed husband are not at all upset. They know their Colonel and were expecting such behavior. It’s just his way of showing affection.
Dog expert Annie Phenix confirms that dogs express their affection in various ways, sometimes not so obviously. Colonel, on the other hand, is a master at sharing his joy with others.
Kate and her husband had hoped that this time, despite the expected enthusiasm, it would be different.
“I thought he would sit quietly beside us,”
Kate tells Inside Edition.
“But that was very typical of him and just perfect.”
The guests also agree.
“This will definitely be an unforgettable wedding! No one will ever be more excited to see you than your dog!”
comments one viewer.
Colonel’s charm and his obvious love for his owners are infectious. It’s a joy to see how much he loves his family – and how much they love him.
So, this memory will forever be associated with the happiest day of their lives.
