Girl Abandoned By Parents For Her Looks Wants To Prove The World Wrong – Now She Models For Vogue
From the moment a child is born, their parents play a huge role in their lives. Children rely on their parents for love and protection, which helps them grow healthy and happy. But what happens when a child has to face life without their parents? The emotional and physical scars can be deep, especially when it’s due to something beyond their control.
This was the case for Xueli Abbing, a remarkable 16-year-old girl from China. Sadly, her parents abandoned her when she was just a baby. They left her at the door of an orphanage, believing she looked too “weird.” But the staff at the orphanage saw something beautiful in her and named her Xueli, which means “Snow White” and “beautiful” in Chinese.
Xueli was born with albinism, a genetic condition that means her body produces very little melanin. This made her skin, hair, and eyes appear very light. Instead of being treated like everyone else, she faced challenges because of her appearance. But fate had something wonderful in store for her.
She was adopted by a loving Dutch family who cared for her deeply. When she was just 11 years old, something incredible happened. A designer in Hong Kong saw her and invited her to model in a photoshoot meant to showcase different types of beauty. “She called the campaign ‘perfect imperfections’ and asked if I wanted to join her fashion show in Hong Kong,” Xueli recalled in a BBC interview. “That was an amazing experience.”
Unfortunately, not everyone views albinism positively. Many people with this condition face discrimination and prejudice. In some extreme cases, they are even hunted because of false beliefs about their bodies having magical healing powers. “I’m lucky I was only abandoned,” Xueli said, reflecting on her situation.
Xueli pointed out that models with albinism are often depicted as angels or ghosts, which makes her sad. “I’m not going to accept that children are being murdered because of their albinism. I want to change the world,” she declared passionately.
Xueli is determined to prove the world wrong about how they see beauty. With her modeling career taking off, she now has a platform to share her story and inspire others. We wish this beautiful “Snow White” all the best on her journey ahead! We truly hope she makes a big difference in how people view those with albinism, showing that everyone deserves love and respect, no matter how they look.
