In old age, having a friend who stands by you and brings joy to life is especially important.
However, not all elderly people have a human friend by their side to remind them of how beautiful life is. Some may even be all alone.
But on a solitary walk, you can unexpectedly find a sympathetic friend, as this video proves.
Kindred Spirits
The video was presumably filmed by the homeowner of the house where this heartwarming scene takes place.
A Golden Retriever, described as an elderly dog in the video, waits outside by the road, gazing intently in one direction.
He does this every day since he met this old man who always passes by the house with his walker.
The man walks on the same path every day at the same time. So the dog knows exactly when he needs to get in position to wait for his friend.
As soon as the man comes around the corner, the Golden Retriever runs up to him with a wagging tail. The old gentleman responds with a happy, affectionate smile.
When the dog and the man have come together, they cuddle in peace.
The senior dog and the senior human fill each other’s hearts with joy. They seem to have a deep understanding of each other, perhaps due to their age, but certainly from the soul.
They are best friends and look forward to this beautiful time together every day.
The loving and cheerful encounter brightens both of their spirits and gives them a good reason to look forward to the next day.
The secret of life

“Seeing each other every day and saying ‘hi’ both complete each other’s day. Sweet dog knows they are both in their prime.”
And @randywilkison1767 very correctly recognizes:
“That’s the secret to life. Happiness.”
