Hasan Piker, better known as “HasanAbi,” is a streamer on the Twitch platform. Recently, he visited animal shelters in Los Angeles in search of a puppy. Although he didn’t find a pet for himself, he wanted to assist the facilities and paid the adoption fees for several dogs in advance. This is particularly fitting to celebrate today, as it is National Puppy Day in the USA.
Animal advocates have always advocated for adopting dogs, cats, and other pets from shelters instead of buying from breeders. This was also the intention of Twitch streamer “HasanAbi” when he roamed the animal shelters of Los Angeles a few days ago with his entourage. The search proved to be challenging because Hasan was specifically looking for puppies. Despite the unsuccessful adoption, he claimed to have paid a total of $25,000 to the facilities.

In a recently streamed video by Twitch star Hasan Piker, the streamer is seen touring his hometown of Los Angeles. Alongside his friends, he visits several animal shelters and rescue stations in search of a puppy. In the video, he mentions that he is specifically interested in larger dogs such as Bernese Mountain Dogs, Pitbulls, Mastiffs, or Cane Corsos.
His beloved Pitbull, “Fish,” passed away during the peak of the pandemic, and now Piker was ready to welcome a new four-legged companion into his life. In the first shelter, he was guided through the facility by the caregivers and met numerous dogs. The staff even had Mastiff puppies in their care, but they were still too small for adoption. Unfortunately, the streamer and political commentator did not find a suitable match.
Thousands of Dollars donated to animal shelters
However, because he highly values the work of the animal advocates in the shelters and wants to highlight in his stream how crucial it is to give shelter dogs a chance, he decided to help the facilities. Therefore, the 31-year-old chose to cover the adoption fees for all shelter dogs before they were even adopted. With $500 per dog, he quickly donated around $14,000 during his first stop.

Hasan aims to assist people who desperately want to adopt a dog but currently cannot afford the fees. In the video, he mentioned that he would also cover the adoption costs of the furry friends in other shelters he visited on the same day. The staff visibly appreciated the generosity of the streamer. Some animal advocates, however, might argue that people who want a dog should pay the adoption fees themselves to realize the responsibility that comes with adopting a pet. After all, adoption fees are followed by additional expenses, including veterinary costs for the medical care of the furry companions.
