After arriving at the shelter, Gracie tested positive for heartworm disease. Despite being nine years old and undergoing heartworm treatment, this beautiful little dog always seemed to be smiling.
Pawsibilities emphasized that heartworm treatment is very challenging for dogs for various reasons, but people often overlook the mental stress of not being able to be active for a full six months. Poor Gracie couldn’t play with other dogs, romp in the garden, or go for walks throughout her entire treatment process.
After her successful heartworm treatment, the entire shelter felt relieved, and Gracie finally tested negative. This meant that the senior dog could move to a permanent home without restrictions.
However, being an older dog, she had special requirements for adoption, especially due to her limited vision and hearing, so a family without small children was preferred.
Fortunately, Gracie found a perfect family that lovingly welcomed her into her new home. Thanks to the GOODS Program, which donates food and supplies for dogs, the shelter could allocate more funds for medical tests, treatments, and conditions such as heartworm tests and treatments.
