Hot summer days
It all began a few years ago when Riley and Olivia Stone from Adelaide Hills in South Australia noticed a visitor in their garden.
It was a koala, who from then on would visit their property on especially hot days to drink from their dog’s water bowl.
When the koala was done drinking, it particularly enjoyed the shade under the large trees in the garden.
The family was delighted each time the koala visited.
They even picked leaves from the nearby eucalyptus trees to provide some food for the adorable koala.
The joy when he returns is immense
Riley and Olivia eventually gave the koala a name, calling him Quasi – because he had become a regular part of the family’s daily routine.
The couple usually sits outside in their garden to enjoy the sun and the wonderful nature when the weather is nice. Every time Quasi comes by, the joy is immense – but most of all, it’s not the humans who are the most excited, but the furry family member Rusty!
The family dog goes absolutely wild every time Quasi comes by because he and the koala have become best friends.
He is immediately on board
As soon as Quasi comes down from his perch to drink, Rusty rushes over to him – because he loves spending time with the koala.
The mismatched pair feels extremely comfortable with each other. To greet each other, they even kiss each other’s noses – what an incredibly sweet sight!
Whenever Rusty sees his best friend, he radiates with happiness and excitedly wags his tail the whole time.
Rusty just can’t get enough of the cute koala…
First encounter
Rusty and Quasi first met when a bushfire was raging. The koala sought shelter with the family to escape the flames.
Even after the danger had passed, Quasi kept coming back.
He seemed to feel at home there because he could get fresh water and juicy eucalyptus leaves at any time.
Initially, Rusty was quite shy when he saw the koala, but shortly thereafter, the two of them became friends and have loved each other ever since despite their significant differences.
While bushfires are a significant problem, it’s important to note that without them, this heartwarming encounter might have never happened.
Every creature, whether it’s a dog or a koala, needs water to survive. So, all species come together, no matter how different they may be.
