M. Roger Massey is a regular visitor to the woods. One day, he makes a terrible discovery. In a dried riverbed, he finds a Pitbull.
This poor animal has only three legs and has obviously been the victim of severe abuse. Massey wants to help but the rescue proves to be very challenging.
Don’t Come Too Close!
Lonely and desperate as he is, the dog refuses to let people come near him.
Given his experiences, he still prefers to stay in his hideaway rather than trust a human.
From his perspective, this decision is entirely right, as he has only known humans as perpetrators of violence.
He reacts so aggressively to any approach that nobody dares to get close to him.
Help from a Distance
Nevertheless, Massey regularly comes by to leave food and water for the battered dog from a distance.
His own dogs accompany him during this assistance, and they are allowed to get closer to the Pitbull.
However, the dog understandably draws the line at humans.
No Strength Left
Fortunately, Massey is not the only one concerned about the dog.
Volunteers from Saving Hope Animal Rescue repeatedly attempt to get close to the desperate animal.
Three weeks pass, and finally, the attempt succeeds.
The Pitbull is now too exhausted to further defend his freedom with aggressive behavior, and in this case, his defeat turns into a victory.
A Completely New Experience
Once he allows a leash to be put on and realizes that nothing bad is happening, the poor dog undergoes a wonderful transformation.
He no longer has to fight because nobody wishes him harm. This is an experience he has not had before, and he thoroughly enjoys it.
He is given a lovely name: Pappas.
Saving Hope Animal Rescue quickly arranges a foster family for this dog who has experienced so much suffering and fear.
Now, everyone hopes that Pappas will soon find a forever home because this dog truly deserves it.
