Wombats are incredibly cute animals and are just as much a part of Australia as kangaroos or platypuses.
The man in this video has been studying the adorable creatures for over nine years, but he’s not doing it for fun or to win a trophy.
Instead, he is helping the wombats!
A savior of the wombats
Armed with a large net and antiseptic spray, the man named Toby goes on a hunt for wombats.
Toby doesn’t just hunt any wombats; he specifically targets the ones affected by a type of mange.
The disease is spreading rapidly among these animals, causing fur loss, blindness, and significant distress.
So Toby’s mission isn’t about capturing wombats for fun or personal achievement – he wants to help these animals!
Wombat treatment with success
Indeed, Toby’s hard work pays off. One day, he discovers the wombat to which he gives the name Wilma.
Wilma is afflicted by the mange and can no longer take care of her fur properly. Moreover, Wilma can hardly see anything anymore.
Toby captures Wilma and sprays the animal with antiseptic spray. Afterwards, Wilma is allowed to go on her way.
Several weeks later, Toby looks for Wilma and finds a transformed animal! Wilma’s eyes are better, and her fur has recovered.
Toby is even certain that Wilma is smiling at him and grateful for the quick and straightforward medical treatment.
For almost a decade, Toby has been lovingly caring for the animal inhabitants of Australia – he is a true wombat hero!
