When we share our lives online, we open ourselves up to both admiration and judgment.
Matt and Brittany Montgomery are a young couple who love posting photos of themselves together. But not everyone reacts kindly. They’ve faced negative comments and judgment. However, their response is clever and inspiring, showing the importance of standing strong in what you believe.
Matt and Brittany’s love story might sound simple at first: they met, fell in love, and started building a life together. But there’s something that makes their story stand out – Matt is much bigger than Brittany, and people can’t seem to stop commenting on that.
For Brittany, this isn’t new. She’s struggled her whole life with feeling like she didn’t belong. Her parents were overly controlling, and she often felt drained after talking with them. This led to her feeling unhappy with her body and questioning her self-worth.
As a plus-size woman, Brittany experienced two types of men: those who wanted her to lose weight and those who were only interested in her curves. After so many bad relationships, she was ready to give up on love altogether.
But then, fate had something else in store for her! In August 2020, Brittany met Matt online. Physically, they were opposites, but their connection was undeniable.
“I was a bit hesitant at first,” Brittany shared. “I’ve been in relationships where guys told me they’d leave if I didn’t lose weight. It really hurt my confidence, and I even tried to change my size at one point.”
Despite her doubts, their love only grew stronger. Matt proposed to Brittany on January 30, 2022, and the couple immediately started planning their future together.
They’re completely comfortable with each other, but they’ve talked about how outsiders view their relationship. Matt opened up about some of the comments he gets online: “People comment on Instagram and say I’m not big enough or man enough for her,” he said. “I do notice people staring when we walk down the street…”
But none of the negativity matters to them. They know they have a deep love that others might not understand.
Matt had dated women who were “normal-sized” before, but things never felt right. With Brittany, it’s different. He knows she’s his soulmate, and he loves her for who she is. He’s committed to making her feel happy and loved.
“You are worthy, you deserve infinite love every day,” Matt recently told Brittany. “The way we look at each other proves we’re meant to be.”
He even posted a photo of them together, along with some of the hurtful comments other people have made. But instead of letting it bring them down, it shows just how strong their relationship is. It’s a brilliant way to silence the critics!
The couple is on a mission to make relationships between people of different sizes more accepted. “I wish mixed-weight relationships were more common and seen as normal,” Brittany said.
Last month, they announced some exciting news – they’re expecting their second child, Lakelyn, in September 2023. Here’s hoping for nothing but the best for them!
Love doesn’t follow any strict rules, and true happiness comes from embracing each other for who we really are.
