James had no idea his usual routine would be turned upside down the day he found his son Liam crying in the attic. The sight of Liam, usually a tough kid, shaken and sobbing, made James rush over. But as he reached out to comfort him, he had no idea that a family secret, buried and forgotten for years, was about to surface.

When landscapers came in May 2018 to clear the damaged trees, they uncovered what the box truly was. Beneath the metal surface wasn’t some long-forgotten electrical box but the opening to an enormous hornet’s nest. The hive wasn’t only massive; it produced a sound that was unmistakable—the noise was strangely mechanical, like an engine trying to start. James glanced inside, his eyes widening as he realized Liam was right. There, entangled in the waxy hive, was something that looked like a small metal box, different from anything he’d seen before.

They were stunned, but what they found led to a fierce argument between James and his wife, Emma. She was horrified by what they uncovered and argued fiercely about whether they should have ever let Liam help with the hive. “He’s just a boy, James!” she cried, her voice trembling with fear and frustration.
