Breastfeeding is a natural and common thing for mothers. Sometimes, you have to do it in public because you can’t predict when your baby will need to eat. This is what happened to a young mom, but she had no idea someone was secretly recording her. When she found the video, she had a lot to say. Keep reading to find out more!
A woman from Maryland was scrolling through social media one day when she saw a video that made her stop. Izabele Lomax took a closer look and realized it was a video of herself.
The post she found was actually a screenshot of an earlier post. Someone had recorded Lomax breastfeeding in public and complained that she should have covered herself.
The screenshot was posted by a woman in a breastfeeding support group. She wrote, “Just pulled up my Facebook and was greeted with this, and I just cannot understand how another female can say this and take VIDEO of this momma feeding her baby and post it to the internet.”
Lomax felt the same way because she was the mom breastfeeding in the video. She remembered the moment, saying, “I was like, ‘That’s me!’” She had no idea she was being filmed.
The original poster claimed they didn’t mean to shame women breastfeeding in public. They wrote, “I’m shaming the woman who breastfeeds in public with no respect to cover themselves up.”
She said she didn’t want to see topless women at the beach and didn’t want to have to cover her son’s eyes and explain what the topless woman was doing.
The video showed Lomax sitting at the beach under an umbrella, breastfeeding her baby. She had no idea she was being recorded.
Lomax decided to respond to the woman who recorded her without her consent. What started as a beautiful day at the beach with her fiancé, baby, and parents turned ugly because someone didn’t agree with her choices.
Lomax made her own video and post in response. She said, “Not only did this woman walk past me multiple times with her son, you had every opportunity in the world to say something to me.”
She said while she wouldn’t have stopped breastfeeding, the woman should have talked to her instead of making a secret video.
Lomax also said that the woman shouldn’t have made breastfeeding seem inappropriate to her four-year-old son. She wondered if the woman had “her own set of issues” because of how she reacted.
“If you have the time to take a video of me and make this joke of a Facebook post, you have the time to educate your son about the fact that babies are fed this way,” Lomax wrote angrily.
People sided with Lomax, and the original poster deleted the video. Many were shocked at what the woman did to try to “teach a lesson.” One commenter wrote, “Who does this lady think needs protection? Kids? You just tell your kid, ‘That lady is feeding her baby.’ Then the kid asks some questions, and you answer and move on. You know, like parenting.”
Another person pointed out that the baby’s head covered any nudity the original poster was worried about.
People had strong opinions about this situation. What do you think? Let us know in the comments.
