Stray Rescue of St. Louis got a surprising call from someone moving into a new home. The caller shared that there was a pit bull locked up in the basement of the house they just bought. They weren’t sure how long the dog had been there.
The rescuers found out that before the new homeowner, there was someone living in the house illegally. It seemed they left in a hurry, leaving the poor dog behind.
Rescuers acted quickly, heading straight to the house. Since the homeowner couldn’t be there, they had a friend let the rescuers in. With caution, they entered the basement where the dog was.
Despite worries about the dog’s temperament, the pit bull greeted them with overwhelming joy. Her tail wagged furiously, and she jumped up and down happily as soon as she saw them.
Natalie Thomson, the communications director at Stray Rescue of St. Louis, described the scene: “When we opened the door, we saw a wagging tail. She was so excited to see us that she nearly choked herself. After we freed her, she couldn’t stop jumping and giving hugs.”
After calming the excited pup, they removed her chain and took her outside. She relished the sunlight, expressing her happiness through wiggles and hugs. Due to her lively nature, they named her Jumping Bean.
Jumping Bean hopped into their van, her tail wagging continuously. She explored the van with enthusiasm, enjoying the sights through the window during the ride to the shelter.
At the shelter, Jumping Bean quickly adjusted. Despite her past, she remained joyful and affectionate, spreading happiness to everyone she met.
Currently, Jumping Bean is at the shelter, undergoing treatment for earworms. The shelter is on the lookout for her forever home, where she can continue to brighten lives.
It took three months at the rescue before she finally found a forever home. Kristen Dillingham and Joseph Mills were at the rescue looking around when they saw the dog, and they instantly knew she was the right one for them.
Jumping Bean has so much energy. At first, it was tough at home because she got anxious when they left her alone, but over time, she got better, and now she happily welcomes them with kisses every day, told Kristin.
Despite her hardships, Jumping Bean maintains her infectious smile. Watch her heartwarming rescue in the video below.
