It’s every homeowner’s worst nightmare to have troublesome neighbors.
But what do you do when your neighbor changes their house so drastically that it’s hard to look at?
In a suburb of Austin, Texas, a man has caused quite a stir by painting his house a bright Pepto-Bismol pink, causing quite a bit of discomfort among the locals.
Most neighborhoods in the U.S. have a Homeowners Association (HOA) that keeps the houses looking consistent and helps pay for useful community conveniences.
But Emilio Rodriguez, who lives in Pflugerville, Texas, bought his house specifically because it didn’t have an HOA.
This meant he could fulfill his dream of painting everything pink, a choice that’s causing some tension with his neighbors.
“I love this house. I don’t know why people don’t like it,” Emilio told CBS17.
When Emilio bought his house, it was a plain beige. But now, it’s his favorite color, and he plans to paint even more parts of his home Pepto-Bismol pink.
Pink keeps him happy
The neighbors aren’t thrilled about the pink house, worried that it will lower property values in the area.
But Emilio, who uses a wheelchair after a car accident and various health issues, says the color of his house makes him happy.
He believes the color also helps to maintain the “Keep Austin Weird” vibe.

What do you think about the color of Emilio’s house?
Personally, I think you have to learn to love your neighbor and use this house as an easy landmark for your friends, delivery people, etc., to find your house. We once had a neighbor whose house was this color, and we loved her; she was one of the best neighbors we ever had. You will get used to it.
