Patrice Masse from Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada, was the star of the show. He made it to the final round, known as the Showcase Showdown, where he placed a bid of $39,500 on a prize package featuring a new car and a trip to Miami.
As the tension mounted, Carey revealed the actual price of the showcase. “Three thousand, eighty-one,” he announced, leaving everyone stunned.
Masse’s bid was just $419 off the mark, making him the winner of both prize packages. According to the show’s rules, the contestant who gets closest to the actual price without going over wins. Masse’s incredible guess made him one of the rare Double Showcase Winners in the show’s history.
