Not only is he a young puppy, but he also struggles with various health issues. In retrospect, Hugo has had significant luck in his misfortune.
Carrie, the Guardian Angel
After the traumatic experience of being abandoned, Hugo, according to a report on Animal News, finds himself in the caring hands of Carrie, who will never let him go.
Her heart is so vast that an entire Hugo fits inside.
Furthermore, Carrie is a professional foster mom for health-impaired dogs, providing Hugo with the best possible medical care.
Hugo’s Compromised Health
Healthwise, Hugo bears multiple marks. He suffers from a form of dwarfism.
Additionally, he cannot move his hind legs properly, attributed to inflammation of the spinal cord.
His immune system also doesn’t function like that of other dogs, requiring medication for a simple insect bite.
Due to his numerous physical challenges, Hugo gets tired quickly. Initially, it’s unclear if the dog has any future at all.
“They hadn’t had a case like this, so they weren’t sure if he was going to live or not,”
Carrie quotes the veterinarians. Hugo survives, and his health situation significantly improves. However, he will never be entirely healthy.
Hugo’s Unique Character
Fear or aggression are entirely foreign to Hugo. No matter who he encounters, he always responds with the same open-hearted friendliness.
This includes not only dogs and humans but also members of other species, such as birds.
This little guy can’t help but see the best in everyone.
Thankfully, he now lives a life where this wonderful character can fully shine.
Therapy Dog Hugo
Hugo is now a certified therapy dog. Alongside Carrie, he visits schools and meets people at airports.
He imparts an important lesson to bipeds: you can be different from others, and that’s perfectly okay.
Due to his health history, this good-hearted dog won’t have a long life.
He probably has only a few years. Every single moment Carrie spends with her beloved Hugo is all the more precious.
