Tiny Tater Tot, affectionately known as TTT by his friends, is an adorable Chihuahua.
When the little guy arrives at the Austin Animal Center (AAC) in Texas, he’s in terrible shape. He’s suffering terribly from mange, covering his skin from head to tail.
No one wants TTT
What Tiny Tater Tot needs now are two things: first, professional treatment for the mange, and second, a whole lot of love.
The shelter can provide the treatment, but for the extra helping of love, foster parents would be the better choice.
So, AAC tries to find a good foster home through its network. Unfortunately, no one initially wants to take care of TTT.
Many candidates are put off by the devastated appearance of the dog, caused by the mange. Moreover, there are practical difficulties.
TTT cannot come into contact with other dogs until he is healed. His mange can be easily transmitted by the responsible mites.
Quarantine in the bathroom
Finally, Sylvie and Martin, the right foster parents, are found. They already have other foster dogs but have a second bathroom.
Now they transform this bathroom into a quarantine station for TTT – with a cozy setup, of course.
As often as possible, one of the foster parents is there to comfort TTT and keep him company. TTT also enjoys the peace and sleeps a lot.
This is an important part of his recovery process.
TTT is back to his old self
It takes several weeks, but then it’s finally done. TTT is healthy and hardly recognizable.
Where mange once raged, beautiful, healthy fur is now growing. Equally strong is the internal change.
Only now can the Chihuahua show what a cheerful little guy he is. He quickly befriends the other dogs in the house.
But it gets even better: TTT has now found a forever home himself.
In addition to a kind human mom, a Doberman and a pot-bellied pig await him as new friends. Just the right thing for Tiny Tater Tot.”
