When a puppy is born with deformities or a disability, it’s not uncommon for them to be euthanized.
The same fate is intended for the puppy Nubby, but a stroke of luck changes everything.
The Doctor’s Diagnosis
About 4 hours after the birth of little Nubby, the vet was on-site to examine the new litter and the mother.
Nubby was a rather weak puppy and, in addition, born without front legs.
Although his mother accepted him, he had little chance to access milk because his stronger siblings from the litter kept pushing him away.
The vet believed that little Nubby had no chance of survival and recommended euthanizing him right away.
Papa Richardson Takes Matters Into His Own Hands
The Richardson family from Texas has taken in many dogs for care, nurtured them back to life, and successfully found them better homes.
Faced with the vet’s statement and opinion, they saw no other option than to take Nubby under their wing, thus taking on a great responsibility for the tiny Nubby.
Completely helpless, his eyes still closed, and with only two stumps instead of front legs, Nubby lay in the basket with his siblings and mother.
However, Papa Richardson was convinced that Nubby deserved a chance at life.
Nubby, who was fed with a bottle patiently, opened his eyes and began to explore the world around him.
Nubby Is a Survivor
Nubby was already a month old and had learned to move around even without front legs.
Nubby had to overcome many ups and downs in his life, but as the Richardson family repeatedly shows on Facebook, Nubby is now a cheerful dog, and his disability is hardly noticeable.
This story once again shows that dogs with special needs also deserve the chance to lead a happy life!
