The Heartbreaking Tale of Jackson the Dog
In a world where some people shouldn’t be allowed to own animals, there’s a story that stands out for all the wrong reasons. A few years ago, a woman named Hayden Howard noticed something troubling about her beloved English Mastiff, Jackson.
It was a sunny day when Hayden called Jackson inside from their backyard. As he came trotting toward her, something seemed off. “At first, I thought he was just covered in insect bites,” Hayden said. But when she got closer, her heart sank. The truth was far more horrifying.
Jackson was not just bitten; he was covered in bullet holes.
“I was completely shocked. I didn’t know what to think,” Hayden told WXIN, her voice shaking with emotion. Without wasting a moment, she rushed Jackson to the veterinarian, desperate for help.
At the vet’s office, the situation turned even grimmer. The vet examined Jackson and discovered a horrifying sight: tiny bullets from a BB gun lodged in his body. “There was one stuck under his eyelid, one in his ear, one in his knee. They were everywhere,” Hayden recalled, her eyes filled with tears.
The vet had to shave almost all of Jackson’s fur to reach the plastic shells. After a long and painful procedure, he removed a staggering 27 bullets. But that wasn’t all. The vet found 20 more bullet holes scattered across Jackson’s small body.
In total, Jackson had been shot over 70 times. “I have never seen an animal shot that many times. It’s a very bad case, and it’s sad to see,” said Craig Hayes, Assistant Chief of the Seymour Police Department. His words hung in the air, heavy with sadness.
People struggled to understand how anyone could commit such a cruel act against a defenseless dog. Jackson had never harmed anyone; he was just a gentle giant enjoying his day. The police believed the shots came from a nearby yard, and they quickly began their investigation, determined to find the monster responsible for this heinous crime.
It didn’t take long for the police to uncover evidence. They discovered bullets and a BB gun hidden in a neighbor’s home. But that was just the beginning. Alongside the gun, they found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. It was clear that this was a person who posed a danger not only to animals but to the community as well.
“I really hope the person responsible gets a long prison sentence,” Hayden expressed, her anger and sadness blending together. “They should pay the price for their crime and never be able to get close to an animal again.”
Despite the trauma he endured, Jackson showed incredible strength. Hayden reported that he was recovering well, slowly regaining his spirit. “I can’t wait for the day he can play happily in the backyard again,” she said, a hopeful smile breaking through her sadness.
It’s essential to remember that BB and pellet guns are often dismissed as “toys” by some news outlets, but these weapons can cause real harm. When someone commits a crime using a BB or pellet gun, it should be treated with the seriousness it deserves. These are not toys; they are weapons that can injure and traumatize innocent lives.
As we think about Jackson’s journey to recovery, we can’t help but wish him a full return to health. His bravery and resilience inspire us, reminding us of the bond between humans and animals. “I really hope Jackson springs back to full health soon,” Hayden said. “He deserves to be happy again.”

Who could do such a thing and that many times,,, The dog is a brave dog what his had to go through 🙏🐕❤️
The monster who did that should be tied to a tree buck naked and shot at least 70 times with a BB gun. It would pleasure me immensely to be the one inflicting the pain to such a sorry sack of s**t.
