In a shelter in Kansas City, Missouri, USA, a large adoption event is taking place. An incredible number of people have gathered to support the shelter and its animals.
At the end of the event, 203 animals have found new, loving homes. So many dogs, cats, and even guinea pigs finally have families to call their own.
Every dog has found happiness – except for one.
Lonely and left behind
At the end of the day, all the dogs are happily cuddling with their new families, settling in, and exploring everything. Their lives are turning for the better.
But one dog is left behind. Little Kenny is now all alone, waiting sadly for a family of his own.
He has a wonderful and lively personality. Kenny loves to run around and play, all the while looking at everyone with a radiant doggy smile.
Everyone instantly falls in love with him. It’s all the more surprising that he’s the one overlooked by everyone.
“Kenny is a goofy, friendly, and happy dog,”
says Casey Waugh, who handles communications and annual donations at Wayside Waifs, and adds:
“He is definitely a people dog! Yesterday, a volunteer took him on a walk. The volunteer described him as a ‘dream.’ They went out for ice cream, visited a nearby park/lake where Kenny waded in the water, and stopped by a local pet store where he made friends with all the staff.”
Hope for a better future
To provide some comfort, the shelter staff showers him with love, which he readily accepts and clearly enjoys the special treatment.
But the big dream of having a forever home where he truly belongs is still a distant one. The staff works diligently to find a loving home for this lovable dog.
Their persistence pays off.
A woman finds the forgotten dog and falls in love with him. Kenny now has a new home and is experiencing wonderful adventures with his new owner.
