Jennifer was a single mother of four young children. Her life had been tough ever since her husband, Adam, walked out on them. Jennifer nodded, waving goodbye before driving home. She was too caught up in her new routine—taking her children to school, rushing to work, and making sure everyone was fed—to think about the trunk. Days passed, and she completely forgot about Jeff’s words.
Then one afternoon, she found a note in the glove compartment. The handwriting was familiar.
“I hope you and your children like the gift I left inside the trunk. May it be of great help to you.”
Her heart pounded as she hurried outside and opened the trunk. At first, she saw nothing but an envelope sitting in the corner. Confused, she picked it up and gasped. It was the same white envelope she had given Jeff—the one filled with $5000. She opened it and saw that the money was untouched.
