When designer dogs became fashionable, many peculiar mixes emerged. Molly is a cross between a Chihuahua and an Italian Greyhound.
She indeed looks as unusual as it sounds: a small Chihuahua head and long Greyhound legs.
No one knows where she came from. Ryan took her in when she was about six months old, and that was over 18 years ago. Molly is still with her.
Absolutely not “old.”
Someone once referred to Molly as a “living taxidermy,” a stuffed dog that is still alive.
It’s not quite that extreme. Molly is doing well at 18.5 years old, although she has the typical aches and pains that come with age.
But she still enjoys her life. She still likes going for walks, and when she can’t walk anymore, Molly is carried by her dedicated foster mom, Ryan.
Her favorite activity is swimming in the lake near the house. Sometimes she swims so far out that her owner has to call her back.
Small but mighty
Even though she can’t see everything anymore, Molly is not afraid. She is a very confident dog, and she has always been that way.
When she enters the room, all the attention belongs to her. She knows it, and she demands it. After all, she has been pampered her whole life.
Her owner, Ryan, is well aware that this is Molly’s last stage of life, and she wants to do everything to ensure that Molly is as comfortable and happy as possible for as long as possible.
A difficult time
This is a really difficult time for all dog owners. You know that the time you spend together with your beloved pet is slowly coming to an end, but you don’t want to accept it.
Ryan’s voice becomes emotional when she talks about Molly’s inevitable end.
“That says it all.”
comments @heidibee501 on Ryan’s feelings, adding consolingly:
“She will leave a trail of bright memories that will always be there, just like the stars in the sky. You just have to reach out for them.”
That’s right. Ryan has also captured many memories of Molly with her small head and long legs in this video:
