Tom Selleck is one of the lucky few to have made it big in Hollywood. With immense talent and a bit of luck, he has enjoyed a long and successful career in the industry, which many dream of but few achieve.

His big break came when he was cast as the lead in “Magnum P.I.” This role was a game-changer for Selleck, earning him five Emmy nominations and a win in 1985. Before this, he had only small roles in TV series, movies, and commercials, and even appeared on “The Dating Game.” Despite describing these early days as “humiliating and unpleasant,” he persevered.

Tom Selleck is best known for “Magnum P.I.,” but his career didn’t start smoothly. He was rejected from talent programs and turned down for jobs. Nevertheless, he kept going and finally succeeded. Selleck believes that waiting until he was 35 to land a significant role helped him become an actor audiences were ready to accept as a leading man.

In an interview, Selleck revealed that if “Magnum P.I.” hadn’t worked out, he might have given up acting altogether. He said, “The opportunity came just as I was about to give up on my acting career.” Thankfully, “Magnum P.I.” allowed him to continue doing what he loves.

Another role that people love Selleck for is Frank Reagan in the TV series “Blue Bloods.” He has been playing this character since 2010, and the show is set to return for a thirteenth season. Even though his back is not what it used to be due to performing many of his stunts over the years, he remains a key star of “Blue Bloods.”

Film stunt work can be risky and tiring. Selleck explains, “You may need to sit in your chair after doing a combat scene. Without someone to keep you warm and stretched out, the unpredictable movement can make you tired.”

Besides acting, Selleck works hard on his ranch in Ventura, California, and is committed to staying healthy. He also loves horses and wants to share this passion with his daughter.

Tom Selleck and Jillie Mack have been happily married for 35 years. He prioritizes his family above all else. Reflecting on leaving “Magnum P.I.” to focus on his family, Selleck said, “It took some time to get off the train, but the ranch helped me achieve balance in my life.” His wife added, “We both thought it was the best place for our daughter to grow up.”
