Whoopi Goldberg’s Birthday Celebration on The View
Since 2007, Whoopi Goldberg has been a familiar face on The View, a popular chat show where she serves as both host and moderator. On Wednesday, November 13, the show celebrated Goldberg’s 69th birthday with a lively episode filled with games, laughter, and heartfelt moments.
One of the highlights was when Goldberg’s co-hosts surprised her with a wheel of cheese—complete with her face printed on it! The moment was met with laughter and cheers from the audience.
As Goldberg stood behind the giant wheel of cheese, Sara Haines couldn’t help but chime in, “I’ve always dreamed of having my face on cheese!”
Goldberg, known for her quick wit, responded with a cheeky smile, “Well, I’d rather eat cheese than see my face on it.”
The studio erupted in laughter at her response, but things took a hilariously unexpected turn when Goldberg added, “Unless, of course, someone’s eating me.”
Haines, caught off guard by Goldberg’s playful remark, stumbled backward dramatically, pretending to be shocked. The audience gasped, laughed, and cheered all at once. Seeing the reaction, Goldberg quickly backtracked, saying, “Never mind! But look at this—it’s a 24-month-matured wheel of genuine Parmigiano Reggiano from Italy. Now that’s quality!”
As the audience laughed even harder, Haines walked over to hug Goldberg, struggling to keep a straight face. Goldberg, ever the comedian, kept the joke going. “And hey, if you want a chance to win a wheel of cheese like this, all you have to do is… eat Whoopi Goldberg!” she joked, throwing her hands up dramatically. “Just kidding! Just eat some food, people!”
The entire studio was in stitches as the celebration continued.
A Personal Revelation
Later in the show, Goldberg opened up about a deeply personal and unexpected story that left many fans touched and intrigued. Earlier this year, she revealed that she had scattered her late mother’s ashes in Disneyland, a place that held special memories for both of them.
In her memoir, Goldberg shared how she learned of her mother’s passing while performing in Sister Act the Musical in London’s West End. It was a devastating moment for her, but she chose to honor her mother’s memory in a unique way.
During an interview on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Goldberg said, “No one should do this, by the way—but I scattered my mom’s ashes at Disneyland. It was a place she loved.”
Goldberg reminisced about the Small World ride, saying, “Small World first debuted at the World’s Fair when I was a kid. My mom loved it so much, and so did I.”
With a twinkle in her eye, she described the sneaky way she honored her mom: “Sometimes, while riding Small World, I’d pretend to sneeze and—oops!—a little bit of her ashes would scatter.”
The audience laughed at the unexpected humor in her story, but Goldberg wasn’t done. “We also went to the flower beds at Disneyland. I’d look around, pretend to sneeze again, and—oh, look at that! More ashes.”
The bittersweet tale showcased Goldberg’s unique blend of humor and sentimentality, leaving the audience both entertained and moved.
