It’s heart-wrenching to see tiny Emma strolling over the wooden floor with stiff little legs.
But at least this wooden floor is part of her new forever home. And the people by her side adore the little dog endlessly.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t always like this because Emma has a sad past.
Simply irresistible
Equipped with a blanket and toys, the senior dog is left outside the doors of a shelter.
Photos of the thin, abandoned Emma posted by the shelter catch the attention of Adrian and Spencer.
The couple has an infinite love for older furry companions and has already given a home to more than one senior dog.
Thus, the little dog not only quickly grabs the couple’s attention but also their hearts.
Initially, Adrian and Spencer only intend to donate blankets and comfort items for the little bundle. Adoption is not on the table yet.
Together until the end
However, it quickly becomes clear: Emma stays! The two adoptive parents cannot resist her charm and playfully call her their “salt-and-pepper diva.”
And Emma doesn’t seem averse to her new family, following them everywhere.
The “little clingy one,” another affectionate nickname, seeks love and affection whenever she needs it.
Only her somewhat peculiar gait still reflects her past. It’s a bit clumsy and wobbly, as if Emma had been confined in a tight space for a long time, forgetting how to walk.
In Adrian and Spencer’s home, the dog has plenty of space to fulfill her need for movement.
The other dogs keep her company. There’s Chihuahua grandpa Gus, former street dog Milly, a Cocker Spaniel, and German Shorthair Eugene.
“When you have an old dog and don’t know how much time you have left together, you just enjoy every second,” says Adrian. “You appreciate what they give you, and you want to give them everything possible,”
she adds.
Above all, they enjoy the sight of Emma’s tongue hanging out from the corner of her mouth when she clearly feels comfortable!
The couple’s commitment to their dogs is almost tangible. Emma and her siblings will never have to question their self-worth again.
