Miranda Lambert has found herself in hot water again after her recent behavior at a music festival. The country star is no stranger to criticism, but this time, many of her fans felt let down. Her actions at the Montana Festival on July 14 have sparked a major debate among concert-goers and online users alike.
The drama unfolded when a fan recorded a video of Lambert, who wasn’t happy with the crowd’s attention—or lack of it. The video quickly went viral, showing the singer, dressed in a cowboy hat and a denim dress with tassels, speaking directly to the audience. Clearly annoyed, Lambert pointed out people in the crowd who were not focused on her performance.
“I can see your head is not turned the right way, which is this way,” Lambert said with a serious tone, motioning toward herself. Her southern accent was unmistakable, and the sternness in her voice let everyone know she wasn’t in the mood for distractions. Some fans cheered in support, but others were caught off guard by her sudden outburst.
Without missing a beat, Lambert continued, “If you came to visit, you can do it somewhere else,” making it clear that she expected the crowd to pay full attention to the show. But for those there to enjoy the music, she promised a good time. “If you came to sing and hear some country music and drink some beer, then we’re doing that tonight!” she reassured the excited audience.
The tension didn’t stop there. Lambert also took a moment to call out people causing a commotion in the crowd. “Are we clear?” she asked, raising her hands as if she were a teacher handling unruly students. Then, in a light-hearted attempt to ease the tension, she joked, “Fighting is not ok… And it’s always the girls. We get crazy!” Her playful laugh and the way she toasted to the crowd tried to bring back the fun vibe.
Just as she lifted her cup to continue the show, she noticed her drink was empty. Lambert didn’t hesitate to signal to her stage crew for a refill. “Mine’s empty,” she said casually, and within moments, a team member brought her a fresh drink. “This looks like a good time for a drink, y’all!” she shouted, holding her cup high as she tried to shake off the earlier frustration.
The video of this moment was soon shared on TikTok with a caption asking for people’s opinions: “Thoughts? 🤷🏻♀️ #mirandalambert #underthebigsky #whitefishmontana #countrymusic.” The comments came pouring in, with many expressing their disappointment. “We left. As did LOTS of the crowd,” one person commented. Another called the incident “terrible,” while someone else wrote, “I stopped liking Miranda for this exact reason.”
Other fans chimed in, saying Lambert’s behavior wasn’t new. “This has always been her. I remember it from her county fair days. [Never] paid to see her again,” one person claimed. Another added, “Miranda, [you’re] okay at best. Not amazing. Please respect your fans more. They made you what you are. Without them you’d be some nobody working at Dairy Queen. Respectfully, just shut up and sing.”
Despite the criticism, not everyone was upset. One fan who was at the front of the crowd said, “Honestly she was amazing. We were right up front and loved every second of it.” Another commented, “🔥🔥🔥🔥 I LOVE her. Always have. She’s brutally honest. Something so many of us lack. Honesty!”
This wasn’t Lambert’s first controversial moment. During a previous concert in Las Vegas, she interrupted her hit song “Tin Man” to call out a group of women who were busy taking selfies instead of listening to her performance. Lambert stopped the music and pointed at them, saying, “These girls are worried about their selfie and not listening to the song, and it’s pissed me off a little bit.”
The crowd cheered, but Lambert remained firm. “Shall we start again?” she asked, making sure the women put away their phones before the song continued.
Social media reactions to her latest behavior have been mixed. “Yikes, this was completely out of line and awkward. She’s not a teacher here 😅,” one TikTok user said. Another felt bad for the fans Lambert singled out, saying, “Omg… and then imagine how they felt after this???” Some found the situation humorous, with one comment reading, “The people leaving right after she did it lmaoooo that was great!”
A fan of Taylor Swift even weighed in, adding, “Taylor [Swift] would never 😏.”
Lambert’s no-nonsense approach to her audience continues to divide fans. Some appreciate her candidness, while others find it too harsh. Regardless, it’s clear that Miranda Lambert isn’t afraid to speak her mind—even if it risks losing a few fans along the way.
