When disaster strikes, like the severe storms recently hitting the southern U.S., good people often appear out of nowhere. They may be strangers, and we may never see them again, but in those moments, they become our heroes. These people are the ones who step in when we need help most, saving lives without a second thought.
One woman, who spoke with Fox News, shared her heartwarming story of survival after Hurricane Milton. She had been trying to walk to a friend’s house, but soon realized she couldn’t make it. The floodwaters were rising so fast that she struggled to stay on her feet. It was terrifying. Just when she thought she couldn’t go any further, a man appeared.
This man didn’t know her, but he saw she was in trouble. He rushed to help her, pulling her into his house for safety. The woman, overwhelmed with gratitude, told Fox News, “He had no idea who I was. And his name is Roy. And I want to say, Roy, thank you for saving my life… I almost died,” she said, tearfully.
Her story was just one of many shared about people stepping up during the devastation caused by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Strangers helping strangers, showing the best of humanity in the worst of times.
The story quickly spread, with Fox News sharing a clip of the woman’s emotional message on Instagram. Many followers were quick to thank Roy for his bravery.
“Thank you Roy, whoever you are. You’re a good man for saving this poor woman,” one person wrote.
Another agreed, saying, “Thank God for men like Roy! I love that even in the face of tragedy and fear, America can set aside their differences and help each other out.”
Others reflected on the larger picture: “These disasters are devastating, but it gives us an opportunity to show compassion and support. It makes the bad a little better when we choose humanity.”
