There are countless animal stories that touch our hearts, shake us, and, in the best case, inspire us to become involved in animal welfare.
The following story is about a German Shepherd dog in a terrible situation. But thanks to caring people, her life can be saved.
It all begins with a routine inspection
Kylina Turner conducts inspections of residential and commercial properties as part of her job. Of course, people in this line of work expect to come across something unusual.
But what Kylina discovers on this day is almost beyond belief.
She sees a small bundle of fur sitting in a backyard. Initially, she thinks it’s a stuffed toy that a child has left there.
Then something unexpected happens: The “stuffed toy” twitches its ears. It is indeed a living creature!
Shaken, she realizes that the creature, which turns out to be a dog, has its legs caught in a wire bed frame.
A shocking discovery
It later turns out that a tenant found the dog and brought her into his backyard. He called animal control, but no one came to help.
So the man simply leaves the dog on her own because he is repulsed to touch her.
Kylina carefully untangles the poor dog from the wire bed and gently places her in her car. She quickly drives her to the nearest veterinarian.
At the vet, the dog is treated; she suffered from sunburn, severe malnutrition, and dehydration.
It is now clear that it’s a female dog, and she is given the name Caro.
Slowly recovering
Kylina regularly visits her protegé, Caro. She is relieved to see that the dog is improving.
She can now eat heartily again and is gradually finding her way back to life.
Kylina has taken Caro into her heart and decides to adopt her. She already has a seven-year-old dog and is happy that he’s getting such a companion.
In the first few weeks, Kylina still needs to give the dog medical baths to treat her for mange.
She also has to follow a strict feeding plan to help Caro gain weight.
But it’s worth it, as the dog is doing better and better!
